Bringing back the good ‘ole original Friday Faves on this mid-September day! I’m currently working on a book review but in my typical procrastinator fashion I’m trying to finish up the last few chapters of some books so I can include those as well. Be on the lookout next week for some great reads I’ll be sharing. In the meantime, enjoy these links and some of my recent food favorites. Hope you have a great day and a wonderful weekend!

Courteney Cox opens up on Running Wild with Bear Grylls about getting older. May we all remember this as we try to age gracefully.

Slow cooker soup recipes. Let us rejoice that soup season is here! This is where I say hooray and my family says noooo.

Larabar’s new seasonal flavors. Love the minimal and all-natural ingredient list of these snack bars. I’ve been a longtime fan and now they’re offering limited-edition fall flavors – Snickerdoodle, Pumpkin Pie, and Gingerbread!

Grace & Frankie. A friend told me about this little Netflix show and I absolutely loved it! Can I please have as much spunk and sass as Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin when I’m in my seventies?

I suck at being a friend right now. Glad to know I’m not the only one. We all do our best to prioritize friendships but sometimes this season of motherhood can deplete us of what little we have left to give to our friends.

Trader Joe’s Avocado Oil. I used this to fry the chicken tenders in my Blue Apron delivery, and we’ve since used it to pan-sear a couple steaks. A lot of people – myself included – often use the wrong type of oil to sauté or fry food; a higher smoke point (meaning the oil will not burn or smoke until it reaches 520 degrees) is needed so the fatty acids of the oil don’t break down. So the fact that this oil has great nutritional properties, taste good, and doesn’t leave everything tasting like avocado either (though that wouldn’t be so bad, right?) makes it a winner in my book!

On raising a confident, self-assured child. So many good reminders in here.

McDonald’s employee with Down Syndrome retires after 32 years. The kindness of this restaurant and the community members is just amazing.

Halo Top Ice Cream. I’ve heard several people raving about this ice cream lately so it was time to jump on the bandwagon and try it for myself. For the past few years, I’ve gotten into a not-so-great habit of having an almost nightly small bowl of ice cream as my “something sweet” after dinner. Now I can feel a little better about doing that since Halo Top only has 200-some calories per PINT. Plus it boasts over 20 grams of protein. And it actually tastes GOOD! The only downside is that it’s on the pricy side. Locals: you can find it in the Health Market section of Hy-Vee or the freezer section of Whole Foods.

Amazon Prime members can now have free access to 50 rotating audiobooks on Audible. I’ve mentioned this before but I LOVE audiobooks (and Amazon). I really hope there’s a decent book selection for this new Prime perk.

Mike Rowe (from Dirty Jobs) shares a letter from his mom. This is another laugh ’til you cry video. A good way to wrap up the faves. 🙂

Blessings to you all for a fun weekend ahead!
