I’ve got a mix of favorite things from this week along with a list of “to-do’s” I’d like to read/try/eat/experience. I’d love to know your current faves in the comments below!
‘Modern Family’ Teams Up with National Association of Realtors in Integration Deal. Anyone else a fan of this TV show? This is a fave because one of my clients is a realtor and I love the awareness they’re bringing to the profession when there are so many people going the FSBO route in this seller’s market. I could go off on a tangent there, but I’ll leave it at that. 😉
A reason not to get up in the morning before the kids. I stumbled on this when scrolling through Pinterest, and the title ‘Why I Don’t Get Up Before My Kids’ hooked me since I’m always striving to rise earlier in the morning for some “alone” time. I’m still trying to make it work, but this funny mom’s reasons made me feel better about being a night owl these days.
I attended an online marketing course this week, and the host sang the praises of The Power of Visual Storytelling as a great resource for upping your social media game. I’m always looking for new ideas to grow as a social media marketer, so I’m anxious to dig into this. Plus it received a glowing review from Gary Vaynerchuk which says a lot from the social media guru himself. He wrote Jab, Jab, Right Hook which is like the social media bible <– highly recommend for great social media strategy!
The J. Crew Toothpick jean line. I ordered my first pair a few months ago and realized these are hands down the best skinny jeans I’ve owned in years. The price point is fair when they’re on sale, they have stretch but don’t sag after wearing them for long periods of time, and they fit like a glove. I decided to order a few more in different washes so now I’m set for the season. Bonus: super fast shipping for no extra money. I ordered on Wednesday and they arrived today!
My taste buds are turning to lighter fare now that summer is almost upon us, and I want to dive in to this HowSweetEats House Salad. I’ve been a longtime fan of Jessica’s culinary creations (check out her cookbook Seriously Delish!) and while she posted it in January it’s now on my radar with warmer weather finally here. It’d be a great side option on a pizza night. If you’re hosting a crowd and ordering pizza in but want something homemade to share that can be made ahead, this would fit the bill!
I’ve seen this quote shared by three Facebook friends through the Womenworking.com page this week. I can become easily disheartened by the amount of effort I put into a friendship or other relationship when I feel it’s not being reciprocated. This is a good reminder to have zero expectations, as frustrating as it can be.
The Spring Parade of Homes! I’m hoping we can get out this weekend between all the graduation parties and Nora’s 2nd birthday on Sunday to look at some new construction homes. We have plans to build someday, and I always love oogling at all the gorgeous homes the builders are producing. Plus it’s a great opportunity to check out the newer areas of town and see where the good lots are popping up.
I’m already seeing the side effects of bringing up Nora in a technology-saturated household. Jordan and I both use it for our jobs and it can be hard to separate it from our life at home. I really like how this article isn’t preaching to eliminate it completely, but posing the serious question of how we can embrace screen time so that it can be a tool for children to engage with God and draw closer to their faith.
Redecorating my front porch. I’ve had the same beige cookie-cutter outdoor chairs sitting there for the longest time, and I’m finally switching things up with some more color – starting with this cute white lattice bench. Soon to be accompanied by a new side table, door wreath, brick hanging, and pillows for the bench. Will share the final transformation soon!
Wherever you are and whatever you do, have a wonderful weekend!
