I’m away on a Vegas vacation this weekend and hope to share some shenanigans in the coming weeks from our trip. But for now, I have a few Friday faves to share. I love talking about some of the things I’ve been reading, eating, and enjoying during the week. I like hearing about what’s going on with you and the things you’re loving if you’d like to shout them out in the comments section below.
The obvious current favorite…Vegas, Baby! I’m tagging along for Jordan’s company retreat. We got in Wednesday and have already enjoyed some fun, relaxation, and time spent with other couple friends. More to come!
Pulled Pork Rice Bowls. I wish I would’ve taken a picture of this before it was all gone. I cooked a 3-3.5 lb. pork roast in the crockpot with only a bottle of Dr. Pepper for about 6 hours on high and when it was pull-apart tender, I shredded it with a couple of forks. Then, I threw it on top of some brown rice with BBQ sauce, grated Cheddar cheese, diced raw red onion (caramelized would’ve been better, but I was feeling lazy), TJ’s roasted corn, chopped avocado, and a drizzle of sour cream, It was easy and over-the-top delicious. Definitely recreating ASAP.
Today’s The Next Big Thing. I watched this series when it originally debuted last year and it returned this past week. I am all for showcasing mompreneurs for their unique talents and helping them get their innovations out there for the world to see. Kudos to the Today Show for supporting these go-getters.
Real talk: I’m kind of a hot mess 80% of the time, and I beat myself up a lot about it. Then I read this post and realized we should all have this grace-filled perspective about loving ourselves for NOT having it all together.
Play dates on the weekend with friends and family. Our 15-month-old nephew Oliver came over to play and go to the park last Saturday and we had a blast. Then on Sunday we had some friends over while Meghan and I escaped to get pedicures. It was a win-win. 😉
A Lincolnite advancing on “The Voice.” Hannah Huston is making the capital city proud!
Permission to Parent. I just started reading this on the plane ride to Vegas, and I can already tell it’s going to be a winner between both the author’s tone and approach. I haven’t read a ton of parenting books during this stage of Nora’s life (lots more during the newborn phase), so I’m anxious to get some solid advice under my belt for the toddler years and beyond.
Girls night and margaritas. It had been a while since I’d had a girls night out with some close friends of mine, and we had the best time at one of our fave restaurants La Paz. There’s something so rejuvenating about local hangouts and chatting the night away with longtime friends. We spent FIVE (!) hours talking about life. I loved every minute.
This beautiful post about the challenging years of motherhood my mom sent to me that has also been circulating around the web. There are a lot of articles floating around on the subject, but this one really hits the nail on the head. It has ALL the emotions.
Hope you have a great weekend!
