Friday Faves: Productivity + Fun

In what’s become standard Friday fashion, here are some of my faves from the week and around the web. I always love to hear what everyone else is enjoying, so share your faves in the comments section if you’d like!

Almond + dark chocolate mocha from Caribou Coffee. I try to avoid sugary beverages, but I’m not made of stone, so I decided to have a treat yo’ self moment this week. Caribou was running a mocha special the day I went, and they said they could do half the amount of chocolate and flavoring to cut the sweetness. It was pure caffeinated perfection. If you haven’t tried this combo yet, you’re missing out.

Productivity tips from She Works His Way. Specifically, the advice to take time for a monthly purging session of paper hard copies. I don’t know about you, but if I have physical clutter around me, it translates into mental clutter. This concept is so simple but yet something I only do very seldom until it gets to the overwhelming, out-of-control stage. Also recommended was to do this on our devices. I am WAY overdue on this, but I think scheduling a block of time in my calendar each month to purge papers and electronic files would keep the situation from getting out of hand.

I heart a good love story: WWII veteran proposed to long-lost love 70 years later. Cue the warm and fuzzy happy tears. I just adore this.

I finally launched the new site for my freelance marketing consultation businessMolly Marketing. It’s something I kept delaying due to this or that never being absolutely perfect, but I’d be waiting forever if I followed that pattern. A gigantic thanks to my talented husband for his work in getting it up and running and turning my design ideas into something that actually looks decent and has functionality!

The discovery of The Traders Table IG account. I love the grid layout of TJ’s ingredients in each post with a brief recipe or method for an easy meal or app they share. It’s definitely going to be a new IG favorite to follow.

As if we didn’t already admire J-Law, she’s advocating for a “new normal” body image.

New door color! I’ve been wanting to paint our doors to the front entrance and garage forever, but I was scared of messing it up. I don’t know why I waited so long because it has completely updated and brightened up the space. It might be subtle to you (especially because I forgot to take a before picture…doh), but the color went from a beige/tan to a crisp yet slightly warm white (in the same color as our kitchen cabinets for continuity) in a semi-gloss finish so that scuffs and marks can be easily wiped off. Love the transformation that a coat of paint can make! Now I’m getting brave and want to tackle redoing front door’s exterior color from its current 90s burgundy shade. I’m thinking yellow or turquoise. Any suggestions are welcome!

Door Before and AfterMelissa McCarthy is returning for ‘Gilmore Girls’ reunion. I loved her before she became famous for her role in Bridesmaids and other slapstick comedies. It was undetermined whether her schedule would allow for her to join the cast in the GG reunion, and now it’s confirmed. As a McCarthy and GG fan girl I can hardly wait!

Starting the book Hope Unfolding from one of my favorite bloggers Becky Thompson of Scissortail Silk. I’ve been awaiting its release for several months. She has the most inspirational, insightful thoughts and perspectives on motherhood and a divine gift for tying it all to God’s truths so that she speaks confidence into everyone who reads her words. So excited to get an infusion of hope as I get further in the book. I’ll definitely include it in the next book review!

So, Kate from The Small Things Blog has persuaded me once again to try a new beauty product. If she told me to jump off a bridge, I’d probably do it (just kidding…only making the point that I completely trust her judgment on make-up reviews). Her most recent favorite item she reviewed is Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation. I’m not normally a drugstore brand foundation girl, only because others I’ve tried simply don’t have the staying power of the higher-end brands. But this one goes on like a dream (hence the name, maybe) and actually stays put all day for a fraction of the price.

I’ll leave you with these secrets to a happier morning. I think we could all use these, am I right?

Have a wonderful weekend!
