Happy Friday! Once again, two months seem to have flown by since I last penned a little update here (I’m sure you were all on the edge of your seats waiting for me to write. 😉 ) My hiatus can be attributed due to a lot of behind-the-scenes work on my new Informed & Inspired Podcast I mentioned in a previous post.
I wanted to share more about what led me to start this new venture + what you can expect from this web site in the months to come.
Since my college years when I started out as a Journalism major (well, after I switched from Music Education, then finally landed on Communication…whew, it was a wild ride), I’ve had a fascination with people’s stories. Their background, their passions, the gifts, talents, and abilities they’ve been given to serve others – it makes me happy to learn as much as I can and dive deep into what makes someone who they are.
In my mid to late 20s when I finally had time to start reading literature of the non-textbook variety, I found myself drawn to the self-help genre. Whether it was through blogs, books, or TV show segments about organization, finances, health, intuitive eating, living a charmed life, or gaining confidence, those articles, pages, and guests transformed my worldview and turned me into a personal development junkie. Now, more non-fiction books line my shelves (or take up residence on my Kindle) than fiction books.
So Informed & Inspired takes those two concepts – people who are authorities in their field (however “official” or “unofficial” it may be) and pertinent lifestyle topics that affect us all – and joins them together. It’s an interview-based podcast geared toward multi-passionate people who want to soak up as much knowledge, expertise, and wisdom from interesting individuals as they can.
If I’m being honest, I know not every podcast episode may fit this mold, but I’m remaining flexible for any direction it may take. The beauty of being in charge is that I get to decide. 🙂
If you’re anything like me – and I would venture to guess that many of you are – you love staying current on the evolving cultural conversation – media, trending topics, pop culture, and news – and MollyHofker.com was originally launched as a way to house all those tidbits and takeaways that I find worth sharing.
It’s a vehicle to pass along information and inspiration that is best shared in a written medium – doses of encouragement, useful recommendations, resources, and of course, the types of posts that take up the majority of the content on this site – “favorites,” plus a few “listicles” here and there. Those article formats are my preferred way of both writing and digesting new information, and that’s likely what you’ll find here in the future.
So, that’s where I’d like to focus this site from now on (in addition to being a landing place for podcast episodes). Because I think sharing what we’re learning, reading, watching, and listening to each day is vital to fulfilling our lifelong commitment of growing, improving, and building connections with each other. To be “informed and inspired” is to be empowered with the opportunity for growth and change in the simplest to the most life-altering ways – for the good of others and ourselves.
Thanks to everyone for their support they’ve shown already and for being on this journey with me…wherever it may lead!
